The newsletter carries articles of the following kinds:
1: brief reports of new information on the taxonomy, morphology, ecology and distribution of molluscs
2: collection reports
3: commentary on the origins of scientific or Japanese names
4: notes on materials for the research of the history of malacology
5: notices or reports of related research conferences and shell club meetings
6: book reviews
7: obituaries
8: proceedings of the MSJ
All articles are printed in Japanese, and some have English abstracts. Species descriptions or other nomenclatural acts will not be published; we recommend they be submitted to the Venus. Foreign members who wants to contribute are requested consulting the Editor-In-Chief of the Chiribotan. Assistance with translation may be possible.
